Qatar Project 2007
Doha 25 April, 2006 – At a press conference held at the Diplomatic Club, Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) announced its participation for the second time in Project Qatar 2007 Exhibition as a Diamond sponsor.
GWC participation comes one year since the start of its operation which was officially launched in this very exhibition last year. Today, GWC has made quantitative and qualitative strides in both its business and size and placed itself as a leading logistical service provider, not only in Qatar but also in region – all in a year’s span. GWC’s evident ambition and rapid growth soon started attracting attention from leading companies around the world.
“The year 2006 has witnessed a major leap forward in starting our first major operations from our location on street 15, Doha Industrial Area by the last month of the second Quarter of the year 2006. We have had a hard working schedule for recruiting qualified staff, acquiring warehousing equipments and transport fleet vehicles and settlement of all the pre operating administrative expenses and the staff costs. Year 2006 also seen we have increased our share capital base by additional 12 million shares. Many projects are now under construction, the most important of which are building a warehouse in Ras Laffan Industrial City for Oil and Gas sections, and building a Warehouse in Messaieed Industrial City.
On the company’s Diamond sponsorship of Project Qatar 2007,We still look at Project Qatar exhibition as the best partner and the best platform to meet visiting potential customers. GWC will open its impressive stand which will carry the number “45”, the same as last year’s.”
With our vision in mind to grow and make ourselves present geographically throughout Qatar, we have undertaken a foray of new projects part of which will be operational during the year 2007 and the rest in the coming years. Work is underway in the Ras Lafan Industrial City and Mesaieed Industrial City warehouses. We are also working on expanding freight forwarding operations by developing strategic partnership with world class international freight forwarders. Perhaps the most ambitious of all projects is commencing work for the first phase of Qatar Logistics Village, which stretches up to one million square meters of land in the South of Wukair, 4 km away from Doha Industrial Area. We have appointed a consulting company to conduct a study for our Strategic Financing Plan for the next 5 years. The project includes the creation of Car Park & Open Yards, Car Storage, Container Yard, Auction Zone, Transportation & Maintenance Zone, Administration Zone, Dedicated Warehouse, Accommodation Zone, and Self Storage Zone.”
We’ll continue creating a strong business model and aspire to be the lowest cost service provider in the region, which shall ultimately result in gaining a dominant market share and leadership in the region.”
