Doha November 9 2006 –With the aim of helping to expand businesses and better service the nation, Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) is launching a new development called Logistics Village Qatar located near Al Wukair in the Industrial Area. Logistics Village Qatar is anticipated to total an area of 1 million square meters, to be constructed in two phases.
In order to ensure the highest level of delivery for the project, GWC has assigned QNB, Dar Al Handasah and Securities Group to handle the finance, project architecture and business aspects of the project respectively.
As a state of the art logistics hub catering to the next generation of logistics businesses with sophisticated IT infrastructure and modern architectural development, Logistics Village Qatar is being launched in order to bring together all of the advanced international logistics service companies and realize their vision of providing world class services to their clients. All logistics companies with a pipeline of goods, energy and information are invited to be part of this colossal, advanced technology hub where they can deliver a quantum leap in productivity and profits.
The first stage will include the completion of a car storage area, container storage, auction area and an open yard followed by an administration building, staff accommodation, maintenance, dedicated warehouses and multipurpose warehouses in the second stage. Facilities such as supermarkets, mosque, recreational areas & cafeteria, will be available in the Logistics Village. The total construction period is forecasted to be completed in 4 years, but it has been planned so that facilities will be available for use, during the construction period beginning the first quarter of 2007.
